MAS Offers Special Fares And Holiday Packages At MATTA Travel Fair

KUALA LUMPUR, March 14 (Bernama) -- Malaysia Airlines System Bhd (MAS) is offering attractive domestic and international travel airfares, MASholidays packages and travel-related products at the MATTA Travel Fair from March 16-18, 2012.

In a statement Wednesday, MAS said all-inclusive discounted airfares for economy and business class would be available through its appointed agents participating in the fair while MASholidays would offer domestic and international holiday package promotional fares.

"Business class travellers can enjoy all-inclusive return air fares from RM1,899 to Phnom Penh, Manila and Hanoi, RM3,699 to both Beijing and Hong Kong, RM4,899 to Seoul and Male and RM10,015 to Los Angeles.

"Similar fares to London start from RM20,999 and passengers will enjoy the travel comfort of the Airbus A380-800 on selected days starting from July 2012," it said.

MAS said its unit, Firefly, would also offer great deals to destinations like Koh Samui, Langkawi, Terengganu, Kota Bahru, Penang, Kota Kinabalu and Kuching. MAS said those interested and not be able to make it to the PWTC to grab these deals could get them via its website at www.malaysiaairlines.com, call centre at 1-300-88-3000 and ticket offices nationwide.

Firefly To Launch Kota Baharu-Johor Baharu, Subang-Hat Yai Flights

KUALA LUMPUR, March 15 (Bernama) -- Community airline, Firefly, is introducing two new routes -- Kota Baharu-Johor Baharu (JB), from Apr 26 and Subang-Hat Yai, from May 2.

In a statement Thursday, Firefly said the Kota Baharu-JB service will have flights every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday and Subang-Hat Yai every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

Shorthaul Malaysia Airlines and Firefly chief operating officer, Ignatius Ong, said the new flights were to meet the needs of business and leisure customers from Kota Baharu who had requested for direct flights with convenient timings to Johor.

Ong said the load factor on the Subang-Hat Yai route will comprise Malaysians as well as foreign tourists.

Ticket sales to these new destinations will commence on March 16 and can be purchased from website www.fireflyz.com.my, Firefly's airport and city ticketing offices and through travel agents.

Fly direct to Koh Samui from KL

KUALA LUMPUR: Now you can fly direct from Subang airport to Koh Samui on Firefly's new route for only RM180.

Firefly, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Malaysia Airlines, is flying direct from Subang airport to the Thai island four times a week.

The service was launched recently with an inaugural flight by the airline's new ATR72-500 turboprop aircraft.

Firefly head of communications and marketing Angelina Fernandez said: "We can now expect many first-time leisure travellers to Koh Samui from KL, now that we are connecting the capital of Malaysia directly through this route.

"More people will be able to experience what Koh Samui has to offer. We are also honoured to be able to encourage the people of Thailand to visit KL and Malaysia."

She said this new route would enable expatriates living in Malaysia to do their "visa runs" and at the same time take the opportunity to explore Malaysia via the new route.

"We expect Koh Samui to be one of our top Thailand destinations and we are happy to provide the service, which is why we have holiday packages via Firefly Holidays," she said.

Firefly Holidays packages start from as low as RM180 per person to RM 2800 for a three day, two night stay.

Firefly Holidays also takes group bookings of ten people or more. The airline also customises packages to suit the needs of clients.

Malaysian Carriers To Expand Operations Network By Year-end

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 13 (Bernama) -- Low budget and community carriers -- AirAsia, AirAsia X and Firefly -- plan to further increase their network expansion by year-end.

From Kuala Lumpur, Air Asia X will continue its network expansion to Australia, starting services to Melbourne and Perth in November, said Malaysia Airports Bhd in a statement Sunday.

AirAsia will start flying to Tiruchilapally, India, while Air Niugini, a new carrier to Kuala Lumpur, is planning to start new services to Papua New Guinea.

Firefly will also start two new points from Penang to Medan and Banda Aceh.

"No new carriers are expected on the fully deregulated Kuala Lumpur-Singapore trunk route from Dec 1, 2008," said Malaysia Airports.

AirAsia and Tiger Airways have already announced considerable frequency increases, with both airlines adding an additional four daily frequencies, Air Asia up to six daily and Tiger Airways five daily from one daily. "This means there are an additional 56 weekly flights on top of the current 129 weekly flights between KL and Singapore, an increase of over 40 percent," it added.
